Always growing — Always improving!– That’s the goal for Garrett Painting.
Shane recently attended the summer 2023 retreat with Nick Slavik of Nick Slavik Painting & Restoration Co., from August 15-18. The gathering brought together visionary craftspeople and entrepreneurs, all driven by a shared passion of discovering innovative strategies to enhance the efficiency and service elements of their businesses.
According to Shane, the retreat was real and authentic as each attendee dove deep into discussions about the challenges and opportunities each was facing in their business. Over the course of the week, each attendee had the opportunity to address the group in their own session, otherwise known as their special “ask.”
“Each participant did a one-hour “ask” to the group, delving into what’s going on with their companies and what they’re trying to fix,” says Shane. “We dug deep into helping each person address and work on solutions.”
Shane focused his ask on growth and maintaining efficiency and top customer service. As Garrett Painting continues to grow, the company is committed to improving technology, software, office workflow and efficiency. The company’s main goal is to enhance communication among the painting team, customers and the office.

During the intimate retreat, attendees stayed in a luxury Minnesota Northwoods lodge, which includes access to ice fishing (winter), snowmobiling (winter), wake surfing, pontoons, hot tubs, a tennis court, a sauna and a private chef.
